For parents in Northwest Arkansas who need child support set up, changed, or enforced.
Kirby Nix handles child support cases, with or without the Office of Child Support Enforcement (OCSE).
That includes setting support, changing it later, and asking the court to enforce it. Every consultation can be in English or Spanish.
Arkansas uses child support guidelines that start with both parents' incomes and the number of children. Other costs, like childcare and health insurance, and the custody arrangement can also affect the amount. Parents can propose a different amount, but the court has to approve it and can reject it if it isn't in the child's best interest.
Once we have both parents' income information, the guideline calculation is clear.
If the Arkansas Office of Child Support Enforcement (OCSE) has sued you for child support or paternity, we can represent you. We also handle child support cases that don't involve OCSE.
If you already have a child support order, from a divorce or another case, and you want to change it, we can help you ask the court to modify it.
If the other parent isn't paying court-ordered child support, we can help you ask the court to enforce the order, including through contempt.
Paternity cases usually come with custody, visitation, and child support questions. See paternity on our custody and visitation page.
